Introduction

Curriculum

The curriculum at Grindon Hall is traditional, offering those subjects which we believe to be of abiding value and which will give our pupils strong foundations for whatever they do next.

In the primary years, we use the best of the National Curriculum but are free to enhance what it offers by giving greater emphasis to basics such as good grammar and learning times tables.  We are not afraid of rote learning!  We are delighted to be among the first schools in the UK to make use of the Core Curriculum UK teaching materials, produced by Civitas, and which strongly emphasise solid knowledge, the importance of basic skills consistently applied and a good awareness of British History.

The Senior School is divided into three main parts, which are the Lower School (Year 7 and 8), the Upper School (Years 9 - 11) and the Sixth Form (Year 12 and Year 13). Each part delivers a broad, balanced and academically challenging curriculum within the context of a safe and purposeful environment.
